Are motion controllers finally coming to Vision Pro?

The Apple <> Sony partnership we've been dreaming of

Hey everyone, it’s Cosmo. According to Mark Gurman, Apple is reportedly partnering with Sony to bring their PSVR 2 controllers to Apple Vision Pro. If true, this would be a welcome improvement to playing games on visionOS.

While eye and hand tracking work quite well for general interactions, the lack of tactile buttons, joysticks, and haptic feedback is sorely missing for games. It also makes it harder for Quest developers to port their games to visionOS.

Remember how Steve Jobs made fun of styluses when he introduced iPhone? Apple later came out with Apple Pencil, and it revolutionized digital artistry on iPad.

I’ve always thought about controllers and Vision Pro in a similar manner. Hand and eye tracking as the default UX paradigm makes a lot of sense, but controllers are necessary for certain use cases like gaming. PSVR 2 controller compatibility on Vision Pro would open up a whole new world for gamers and game developers. I’m all for it!
