Vision Hack is three days away!
Hey everyone, itβs Cosmo.
Vision Hack, the first global visionOS hackathon, is in three days on 9/13-9/15! I'm honored to announce that six top visionOS developers will share their insights about creating for this platform:
1. Miguel Garcia Gonzalez, creator of Astronoma, will teach us how to get started developing for visionOS.
2. Sergey Gonchar, founder of LoΓ³na, will deliver how he rebuilt his app from scratch in RealityKit.
3. Tassilo von Gerlach, iOS Engineer at Captions, will share how to create procedural geometry and materials in Reality Kit.
4. Gregory Wieber, creator of Vibescape, will present how he creates beautiful immersive environments.
5. Tim Isenman, creator of Pocket Rocket, asks, "What is the Vision Pro, actually?" Mysterious!
6. Haolun Yang, Product Designer of Red Bull's visionOS app, will discuss the fundamentals of spatial design.

Apple Event Fatigue
Is Apple running out of track for iPhone and its main product lines?
As the biggest Apple fanboy I know, I came away from Apple's "Glowtime" event feeling oddly empty. iPhone 16 marks the 43rd model in 17 years. While undoubtedly more capable than the first, how many more iterative updates does Apple have in it before we hit peak iPhone?
Apple's marketing prowess is undeniable. They announce minor updates like the black Apple Watch Ultra 2 with stunning videos. But flashy marketing and new colors can only do so much heavy lifting.
This isn't to say Apple doesn't innovate. Spatial Video on every new iPhone is significant, and Visual Intelligence through the Camera Control sets the stage for visionOS and AR glasses nicely.
The pace of new products is breathtaking, and Apple makes it look easy. Yet I struggle to imagine exciting new iPhone features. It's already blazing fast with excellent cameras, and Apple Intelligence might finally make Siri useful.
iPhone's approach to its supposed ainnovation symptote reaffirms my interest in Apple Vision Pro and visionOS. There's vastly more unexplored territory and opportunity in spatial computing. That's why we're here, and why I'm looking forward to Vision Hack!
